WIP: Spaceship Mechanic-Droid

The galactical science and irregular troop ships have a mech-droid to make repairs to equipment as needed in order to complete a mission. So...I have taken a Khurasan PLA-11 Floating Killer Robot, cut off the HMG and puttied-up a face piece for holding optical lenses. Then I cut off the lower part of the" body" and installed a styrene attach point for a height-rod. Then I drilled out a portion of the upper "body", and installed a piece of brass rod and plastic bead, to represent mechanical appendages. Next, I bent the rod to indicate a non-static position, inserting a bead as needed to denote a movable joint.
Killer Robot, Robot surgery, and puttied lens housing, and
mechanical arm initial installation.

Articulated Arms and 1st stage hands.

Tomorrow I plan to putty the hand areas and add digits. Plus install two lenses in the optical unit. Finally the mech-bot will get painted.

The Aliens now have two troops with back packs, which are essential to their tactics and ability to confound the enemy.

After a few false starts (tangential projects!), I should get the Bot and all of the remaining Aliens painted in the next few days.

This project is at least 2/3 completed!!!!!! I can feel the dice in my hand, the sweat on my brow, and smell the bacon frying on the stove!

  1. Very cool, Jay. That's a great conversion of that bot.

  2. Thanks, Joe! The Bot's as moody as a Master Sgt. on the day-after, but is a master improviser and technician.

    1. Thanks, Dan: I hope it proves to be as interesting in the heat of battle as it was to imagine and put together!
