Finished Alien Scout Ship

Well, here are some pictures of the finished scratch-build project. 1st: ship joined together, masked, and prepped with primer; 2nd: picture of styrene-tube-ship-height-adjustment-point; 3rd: finished paint with worn, dented and faded paint, and 4th:  decals to represent ship's unit designation and mission effectiveness.
Waiting for Maintenance-paint Droid's 15 minute break to end!
Ship's fitting to facilitate hovering, low flight, tree top,
and up up and away height

Canopy unmasked,  and "zinc Chromate" primer added
to varied surface areas, which, when the top coat is
applied and sanded, will give the effect of a well worn
Zamonian machine.

Finished scout ship on test run.
Soon to finish the Alien pests; and make a small still, pig pen, and chicken coop.

  2. Thanks for the thumbs-up, Dan! It has been quite a journey from soap dispenser to veteran scout ship. Now back to painting-up the aliens.

  3. Great job on this, Jay. I love the weathering. Brilliant use of the zinc chromate. I think I still cough that stuff up. :)

    1. Thanks, Joe: I'm fairly pleased with the weathering effect. if there is a next time, I'll use 1000 grit instead of 600 to sand down the top coat, so as to expose the under layer in a more delicate manner. And zinc chromate has probably killed more than my share of brain cells.

    1. She's faster than any DOD secret aeronautical airship, but (as the WIYF scenario will reveal) in-the-field maintenance can be a problematic factor in her mission's performance. However, I do know for sure that...she can out-perform the General's Merc! "Hail Franonia!!!
